SOS Children's Villages

June 28, 2016

Life can sometimes sweep you by when you have a family, home, job and house move/life change to take care of, but now you'll be seeing more of these posts as we've got a lot to catch up on.

With all that in mind, and all that is going on in the world at the moment, I thought it pertinent to first remind ourselves about our nominated charity SOS Children's Villages.

For over 65 years, this humble yet formidable charity has been helping the world's most vulnerable children and families in many different ways:

  • The support fragile families in order to help them stay together.
  • When a child is orphaned or abandoned, SOS provides them with a permanent family home in an SOS Children’s Village.
  • They build schools and health centres and continue to provide quality education and healthcare in these communities.
  • They also help during emergencies, and are currently supporting children and families suffering as a result of the refugee crisis.

What they achieve is no mean feat, as often the environments they work in are tough, emotionally and physically. Often the charity has to turn on a sixpence, responding to the fall out from natural disasters, war, the refugee crisis as well as maintain their everyday efforts and support across the world.

There are SOS Children’s Villages, and associated community programmes, in 125 countries around the world – making us one of the world's largest orphan charities. These span Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

BearGood is committed to supporting SOS, and if you want to go that bit further you can. Sponsoring a child really can change their life as it enables long-term care - a family home, food, a school and healthcare - find out more here.

Thanks for reading, we'll share more updates soon.
